Breeding a Rascal Offspring ??

People with Labradors from a Rascal breeding often want to know who to breed to.  While an owner has to look at their individual pedigree and assess their dogs strengths and weaknesses,  following are some suggestions that will at least go with Rascal's side of the pedigree.   The female pedigree also has to be taken into consideration  and there have been many different combinations in breedings.   Each individual has to determine which choices might be the best for them.   No guarantees of a perfect litter are intended by this list.  This page is only to get someone started in thinking about choices.

By the time one more generation goes by and Rascal is a grandparent,  there are even more factors coming in from different lines that have to be studied by a potential breeder.   At that point Rascal is only 12 1/2 percent of the possible pups and only a partial influence on the pups.

This list will be expanded and is not meant to include every possible stud at this time.  These have been chosen so far since they might have been used by others  and are not likely to carry recessives of concern that might be a poor cross with Rascal lines.    Please ask stud owners about details about their dog's characteristics. Characteristics such as desire, trainability,  and temperament should  be considered.

Puppy markets are currently saturated as seen on internet classifieds so care should be taken to make sure there is a market for your potential litter.   Look at where the pups might go and what your expenses will be in breeding and then make decisions as to whether to breed or not.    I usually suggest that the breeder has several non-refundable deposits in hand before the tie takes place. Don't count on those friends that assure you they want to take a pup. It is suggested that no breedings be considered before the female has some titles and has had hips, elbows, and eyes checked.
